How Does Invisalign Treatment Work?

There are different treatments for every dental condition. Most people who have problems with their teeth can correct it with the help of cosmetic dentistry. There are options that can be provided for you to choose from. Depending on the condition, you will be able to get a treatment of your choice. One of the treatments that you should definitely know is invisalign.

how does invisalign treatment work

What is Invisalign?

Cosmetic dentistry offers an alternative to metal braces. This is called invisalign. This is considered as a modern orthodontic miracle because of how it works. This is a teeth-straightening system where clear and removable aligners are used. Unlike metal braces that may affect how you look like, the aligners are imperceptible.

How Does Invisalign Work?

If you are trying to compare treatment options, you must know how each is done. Here are the different ways on how invisalign works:

• Fabricating Custom Plastic Aligners

Invisalign uses 3D technology that makes it possible for the orthodontist to make a treatment plan for you. An x-ray and a 3-D image of your teeth will be used to be able to create the impressions. When the plan is already in place, aligners that are custom fit to your mouth will be created. The materials used are BPA-free and you will be advised to wear it 20-22 hours every day.

• Replacing it Every Two Weeks

New sets of aligners will be given to you every two weeks. This is to ensure that your teeth will gradually shift in the new position. This is going to be done until the final position of the teeth is already reached. This is also the reason why the number of months you will be asked to wear one may differ from the others. However, it will be between 9 to 12 months.

• Correct Most of the Minor, Moderate, and Even Some of the Severe Issues

The outcome that you will be getting will surely depend on how severe the issue is. But you can be sure that you will be able to get a good development with this treatment. It can work for minor, moderate and even severe issues. And the result that you will get will also be better if you are diligent about wearing your aligners.

• Crowding, Gaps, and even Turned Teeth can be Corrected with Invisalign

The problems that can be solved if you are going to use invisalign include crowding, gaps and turned teeth. These problems may lead to some significant health problems. If these are not going to be improved, it may lead to some risks like gum disease and tooth decay. This is why you need to look for the best solution for it.

• Effective Solution for a Myriad of Teeth Alignment Problems

Teeth alignment problems differ. There are those that may be crooked or gapped. These may lead to abnormal bite. This is most especially when your lower and upper jaws do not align properly. You should know that when teeth are not properly positioned, the defense of the gum is weakened. It will not be able to provide protection from infection. Clear aligners are known to be perfect in properly aligning teeth.

• Used to Treat Gapped Teeth

Gapped teeth, depending on its position, may cause difficulty in speaking. But worry no more because invisalign can help you deal with the problem. When your teeth are properly aligned and straightened, you will have a healthier mouth. Aside from the pleasing appearance, you can expect that your teeth will last for a lifetime.

• Visit Your Dentist Every 6 Weeks or so as Part of Your Treatment

When you agree on using invisalign, there will be a plan that you need to follow. Regular dental checkups will be mapped for your guidance. With this, you are expected to visit your dentist on the schedules that are provided. This is all part of the treatment plan. It should be followed for you to be able to get the best result.

Invisalign vs. Braces

There are a lot of differences between invisalign and braces. Firstly, when it comes to the appearance, invisalign is seamless while metal braces are pretty much very obvious when worn. Secondly, braces will be worn for the whole treatment plan. Invisalign, on the other hand, can be removed when you want to eat or drink a beverage. This makes it more convenient for you. And finally, the maintenance for an invisalign is not really a problem. This is because it can be removed. If you are afraid to stain it, then you can always remove it before eating.

When it comes to the cost, it is to be expected that invisalign is more expensive. This is because of the fact that this is a new technology. But it works perfectly so it is still worth it. For metal braces, one is expected to wear it for 2-3 years. But for invisalign, it is shorter. You can expect results even after 9 months or 12 months as the maximum. Nonetheless, these two treatments have their own advantages and disadvantages. You can just weigh your options according to your needs.
