How to Decorate a Smaller Venue for Grand Events

C:\Users\Admin\Downloads\people-geb37e9fe9_1920.jpg

It pays to be organised if you’re set to have an event soon. There are plenty of aspects to think about, and it all depends on the kind of event you are having – whether you are having a birthday party for a child or special someone or are thinking of your annual office Christmas party. It’s essential to think of something that will make the celebration or occasion stand out – you can, for example, have a unique theme and make everyone dress in costume, or you could have an open bar and serve a unique and special holiday cocktail. But of course, none of these things can happen without a venue. If you’ve looked high and low for a venue, but the one you found is smaller than you would like, never fear – there’s no reason you couldn’t have fun with a smaller venue. There are ways to work around it if you think outside the box and ensure every inch of the space is utilised! Here’s how to decorate a smaller venue for a grand event.

  • Have an open layout and floor plan

One way to maximise the small space you have is to make sure you have an open layout and floor plan. Give your guests room to move around (and breathe!) by having an open layout, adding an airiness that your space would not otherwise have. Do not use curtains or fabric dividers to break up the sightline of the guests and divide the available area into smaller spaces – it will end up making your space look more cramped.

  • Use a better option than square or rectangular tables

Another thing you can do to make the best use of your available space is to utilise round tables rather than rectangular or square ones. This is because a standard round table can fit more people than a square/rectangular one. Only eight people can fit in an 8-foot rectangular table. On the other hand, around twelve people can be seated in a 6-foot round table. It is also easier to locate round tablecloths so that you can add more options for décor.

  • Don’t use décor on the ceiling!

No matter how tempted you are to decorate the ceiling, don’t! It is the worst possible thing you can do because you will inadvertently draw attention to it. Instead, see if the lighting fixtures are too low – you can always ask the people in charge of the venue to remove them. A general rule is that lighting fixtures should not hang closer than 36 inches above the tables. And do not festoon drapes across the ceiling, either – although they may look good, place them on the walls instead – or do away with them altogether and find another alternative, as the experienced party planners from https://oasisevents.co.uk/ suggest.

  • Use candles – lots of them

One way to set the mood and ambience is to use candles – lots of them. Candlelight creates an elegant space with a different dimension, and you can place centrepieces with candles to make your event space pop.

  • Stick with minimalist wall décor and clean lines

If you want your event to pop, you can do a lot with a little. That’s what minimalism is all about; clean lines don’t break your guests’ sightline. It also reduces clutter and airs out the space. Use white and other neutral colours so that your venue looks brighter and lighter.
