Have Multiple Uses For Furniture
If you designate a separate piece of furniture for everything you enjoy doing or need to get done in your house, you’ll probably end up not having enough room for it all! Instead of having a chair that you only use for knitting, for example, you can set up your living room with couches and chairs that fit well and make sense for when you decide to have people over and entertain. Yet they’re also functional to use when you knit! Keep a basket with all of your knitting supplies in a closet nearby, or inside of an ottoman that opens for storage.
Another piece of furniture that can be multi-functional is any type of desk or large table. If you work from home you will need a nice and organized desk with everything you may need during an average work day within reach. But after work, you can use this same well-lit desk area to do your nails so that you don’t have to have an extra table for that purpose taking up space in your house.
Organize Storage Space
You may be inclined to keep the main areas of your home clean and organized because those are the spaces guests will see when they come over, as well as the parts of the home you spend most of your time in. It’s easy to just fall into a routine where you toss any of your mess away into a closet, junk drawer, or cabinet to get out of sight and worry about later. However, your home will be so much more functional if you instead make an effort to keep all of your storage space more organized.
Not only will this make it easier to find things when you need them, but it will also help ensure that you don’t get stressed out whenever you open a spare closet door! Try spending a weekend organizing all of those neglected little areas in your home and you’ll be glad you did.
